Certificate Course on Industrial Plant Tissue Culture

Department of Biotechnology and Bioinformatics, Jaypee University of Information Technology (JUIT), Waknaghat, Himachal Pradesh, India is conducting  short term Certification Course on Industrial Plant Tissue Culture of 3 months (12 Week ) duration.  The course was designed in order to enrich the knowledge and development of skill sets towards the employment of the youth / professionals working in and non-associated  fields.  The detailed course contents, essence of course, eligibility, prerequisite, weekly schedule, mode of operation, evaluation scheme, duration of the course, fee, career growth opportunities, and key modules are described below.

PREAMBLE

  • The objective of this course is to demonstrate and provide hands on experience of  all possible techniques and technologies of plant tissue culture  to the participants.
  • The learners will be able to establish tissue cultures of important and endangered horticultural, medicinal and ornamental plants.
  • The learners will be able to explore possibilities for commercialization like entrepreneurship.

ADVANTAGES

  • Plants have been conventionally propagated by seed and vegetative methods like cutting, layering etc. which may not applicable for most of the commercial important plant species with desired number of propagates.
  • Conventional methods are season dependent, time consuming and not sufficient enough to meet the market demand.
  • Plant Tissue Culture has become an important alternative where any plant species can be cloned and large number of genetically uniform/desirable variants disease-free plants can be obtained.
  •  Plant Tissue Culture is a technique of growing cells, tissues or organs in sterilized nutrient media under controlled aseptic conditions for the production of desirable planting material.
  • The technique enables production of plants in a small laboratory space round the year, independent of the season and within a short span of time.
  •  The technique of plant tissue culture has been widely applied for large-scale production of quality rich planting material like medicinal, horticultural and ornamental plants.
  • It also helps in conserving many threatened and endangered plant species of extreme geographical locations.

  • A large number of tissue culture based industries have been engaged in commercial production of selected plant species in India and abroad. There is a huge demand for trained manpower in this sector.
  • The course being offered will train manpower suited to the needs of the industry so that the trained personnel become employable.
  • In addition, the course will also provide advanced training to become an entrepreneur in the said area.

FEE REFUND POLICY:
